In the Orthodox religion the naming of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, which symbolically opens immediately some aspects of her veneration and is formed on the basis of the main Old Testament prototypes of the incarnation of Christ.

In the center of the icon is the depiction of the Mother of God with the infant, which, as a rule, strictly preserves the number of symbolic attributes associated with the Old Testament prophecies: the mountain from Daniel's prophecy, Jacob's Ladder, Vrata Ijesekiilja, etc. ä. This representation is closed in the eighth star formed by two squares — green and red (the natural color of Kupiny and the color of объявшего their flame). Around him are depictions of four Old Testament subjects: Moisei before Kupinoj, the dream of Jacob, Vrata Ijesekiilja and Drewo Ijesejevo.

Another theme of the icon - the service of the angels of the Mother of God and the worship of the heavenly forces of the miraculous birth of God from the Virgin - its depictions are in the rays of the respectable star; among them - the archangels and the nameless angels - the personification of the elements, which is known from the wise Palei, the book of Jenocha and other apocryphal writings.

Overall, this theme has found reflection in many church service texts, from where it is evidently and was borrowed (cf. e.g. "Every being angelic, let it be greatly amazed by your prayer about the matter" - Akafist of the Mother of God, кондак IX. et al.). The legend that tells of the miracles, entirely of the icon, has not spared the history of its acquisition; in Russian icon painting it dates back to the middle of the 16th century. Century known.
